In general, having high cholesterol
in itself does not produce any symptoms. However, it does cause side
effects and there are a number of symptoms, or risk factors, that are
directly related to having high cholesterol.
Some of the risky behaviors
that can lead to high cholesterol include frequently eating at fast
food restaurants, eating cheese and whole fat milk products, smoking,
consuming red meat and not getting enough exercise. Being overweight
does not help either. In fact, simply being overweight can be a possible
symptom of high cholesterol but not everyone who is overweight has high
cholesterol. Again, to determine your cholesterol levels, a blood test
will be required.
The true symptoms of high
cholesterol are heart attacks and strokes. As you can probably guess,
it's not a good idea to wait for these symptoms to appear before taking
action. It is a much better idea to take preventative measures.
Taking heart healthy supplements,
like those that you can buy online (see above), is a good way to keep
your cholesterol under control and to make your heart more healthy in
general. Once you get to the point where you have high cholesterol,
your doctor may ask you to take some type of prescription medication.
Keep your circulatory system
clear and your heart healthy by sticking to a low fat diet, monitoring
your caloric intake, getting plenty of exercise and making regular visits
with your doctor. Keeping your weight under control is not always easy
but then again, neither are strokes and heart attacks.
